THE first Ledbury town council election since July 2012 will take place on Thursday, February 27.

A single vacancy has arisen following the resignation of former town councillor and local optician Lily Fieldhouse, who has moved from the area.

Three candidates are standing, and they are:

  • Richard William Hadley, of Primrose Cottage, Gloucester Road, who is standing under the banner of "A Positive Choice for Ledbury".
  • David St John Kettle, of Challenger Close, Ledbury.
  • Michael John McLaren, of Conigree House, South Parade.

A fourth candidate Dee Linda Knight, of Turner Court, Homend Crescent, has withdrawn.

Polling will start at 7am and end at 10pm, and the count will be made immediately afterwards in St Katherine's Hall.

The result should be known by the morning of Friday, February 28, at the latest.

There will be three polling stations, which are St Katherine's Hall; the Master's House and Co-location building at Ledbury Primary School.

Voters should go to their usual polling station.

However, as the Community Hall (usually a polling station) is being used for a blood donor session, voters who usually go there must go instead to St Katherine's Hall or the Master's House.

Letters have already been sent by Herefordshire Council to advise voters which one they should use.
