A NEW community shop has been launched in Leominster and is set to benefit local charities and community groups.
The venture has been set up by the Leominster-based charity Oaks, which provides nursery care and support for Leominster families, at the Honey Bees and Daisy Chains nurseries.
Based on a model similar to a community shop in Kington, the High Street shop is taking bookings for groups to rent for a week at a time.
Pip Westwood, shop coordinator, said: "People are very enthusiastic about the project, which will be ringing the changes regularly with other Leominster community groups and charities having the opportunity to use the shop, a week at a time, for their own fundraising and promotion.
"We already have Leominster Community Wheels, Marches Family Network and Megan Baker House booked in and others in the pipeline. Supporting local services and activities, keeping the money in the area and connecting with the community looks like being a winning formula.”
