TRAINS between Leominster and Ludlow have been disrupted due to interference from a BBC radio transmitter.

An OFCOM report has confirmed that the BBC’s radio transmitter at Woofferton is interfering with a railway in-cab signalling system.

Mavis Choong, a spokesman for Network Rail, said that while the interference does not pose a risk to the safe operation of the railway, it has been stopping trains en-route.

She said Network Rail will be exploring a permanent solution with the Department for Transport and the European Rail Agency but until then, an interim measure will be installed to minimise disruptions to passengers travelling through Woofferton.
