MORE than 100 people turned out with frying pans at the ready for the annual Pancake Day races in Ross-on-Wye.

People of all ages - and abilities - ran along Broad Street yesterday.

Councillor Richard Mayo, who takes part every year, said that racers were greeted with sunshine.

He said: "The sun was shining and it was beautiful - probably the best weather we've ever had for the races.

"It's always really good fun and a great community event. There are all sorts of races, from traders' races to children's races, so everyone can take part."

The event has been organised by the Association of Ross Traders for the past five years.
