A NEW five-mile race in Herefordshire is asking competitors to try and "beat the bells".
Starting outside Hereford Cathedral, runners will set off at noon on Saturday May 3 as soon as the famous cathedral bells begin to ring a full quarter peal.
The race takes competitors across Castle Green, along the banks of the Wye at Bartonsham, over the Greenway bridge and back.
But runners are challenged to make it to the finish line on Castle Green before the bells stop ringing – after around 45 minutes.
There will also be tea and cakes on offer and Hereford River Carnival which takes place on the same day.
