MOTHERING Bunday is back with its bid to get the county baking, eating and raising money for a local charity.

The first-ever Bunday was held last year and it inspired people around the county to dust off their aprons and get baking tasty treats to raise money for breast cancer support charity The Haven.

Funds raised through cake sales allow the charity to continue its vital work supporting men and women affected by the disease.

This year's event will take place on Sunday March 30 and Haven fund-raiser Lesley Leach said the team are trying to get as many big names on board as possible.

She said: "Last year was so much fun that we have decided to do it all over again. This year, we are running a celebrity Twitter campaign, approaching as many baking celebrities as we can, to encourage them to bake and post their wonderful creations. But the bakes do not have to look amazing to taste wonderful.

"Last year saw schools, companies, churches and individuals baking buns, and then selling them to their friends, families, work and school colleagues."

The event helped raise around £1,700. The children at Kings Caple Primary Academy helped raise more than £100 alone with their cakes and gingerbread creations.

The Haven also has edible Mothering Bunday cake toppers which can be bought online at www.ediblecaketoppers.co.uk.

Any money raised can be sent to The Haven at 37 St Owen Street, Hereford, HR1 2JB, or online at www.justgiving.com/motheringbunday. Tweet your creations to @motheringbunday.
