LEDBURY Community Brass Band wants people who can blow their own trumpet, but cornet players will be particularly welcome.
Band spokesperson, Helen Holloway said: "We have a shortage of cornet players at the moment.
"The vacancies have occurred for a variety of reasons, one of which is that quite of few of the younger cornet players are getting braces on their teeth which can make it more difficult to play.
"Often, cornet players with braces have to change to one of the larger brass instruments which are a little easier to play with train tracks on the teeth!”
The band will be playing at several local events over the summer and looking further ahead, will be giving the world premiere of John Frith’s Ledbury March on Remembrance Sunday. The march has been composed specially for the band to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of World War 1.
Prospective members of any age or ability who play any brass instrument are invited to come along and try a rehearsal on Thursday evenings during term time, 7.15 to 9pm at Ledbury Primary School.
