A GROUP of cyclists are taking on the ride of their life to raise funds for a county charity this summer.

The six cyclists are taking on almost 900 miles over six days from John O’Groats to Lands End in aid of the ELY Memorial Fund between July 2 and 7.

The charity was set up in memory of Emma Louise Young (E.L.Y.) who tragically lost her life in September 2010 in a road traffic accident.

It offers a one-off payment towards funeral costs for families in Herefordshire if they lose a son or daughter between the ages 17 to 25 in a road traffic accident.

The team of cyclists – comprising of Colin Headland, Dale Morris, Lee Simpson, Howard Robinson, Steve Greening and Byron Dermody – are aiming to raise £500 each for the charity.

Colin aims to cycle 150 miles per day and the other five will cycle 75 miles per day in relay.

A number of local businesses have already pledged support to the fundraising event, with sponsorship being provided for several aspects of the challenge.

Any others that are able to help – particularly with daily food supplies – are asked to get in touch with the charity.
