THE RECENT weekend's fundraising by Marie Curie Team Ledbury put £1405 into the charity's coffers, a figure which is being described as "a fantastic sum" by organisers. The volunteers wore bright yellow hats, wigs and scarves outside Tesco supermarket, where daffodils were on sale for donations to the Marie Curie cause.

Group Chairman, Bruce Foster remarked on the amazing generosity of those who put money in the collection boxes and added; "Marie Curie has 2,000 nurses in the UK and last year they worked for 1,300,000 hours caring for terminally ill patients, including half of all cancer patients who die at home.

"The figure is overwhelming, but so is the comfort that the money can provide and we want to extend our grateful thanks to everyone who has helped, including Tesco stores for permitting us to use the premises for our collection venue.."
