IT was all hands on deck at Hereford Library's pirate and mermaid workshop.

Around 50 children took part in the workshop this morning, which saw them create pirate hats and mermaid crowns to gain inspiration for the Hereford River Carnival, which takes place on May 3.

A similar workshop will be held on Saturday at the library between 10am and midday and a further event will be held next Thursday.

Librarian Anne-marie Dossett said it was "a really lovely day".
