A MAN has appeared in court charged with a burglary in Newent and a knifepoint burglary in Ross.

A house in West View, Newent, was burgled on Wednesday, April 16, and electrical items, cash and a wristwatch were stolen.

Gareth Robins, aged 35, of Wall House Road, Ross, was arrested for the offence on Saturday, April 19, and charged with burglary.

Robins was also charged with aggravated burglary, relating to an incident at Three Crosses Road, Ross on Tuesday, April 15.

A a vulnerable pensioner was woken up at home by an intruder with a knife breaking in and demanding money. The resident handed over around £60 in cash.

Robins appeared at Worcester Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Monday) where he was bailed to appear at Worcester Crown Court on August 11.
