CHILDREN were taken back in time to learn about everyday life in the Roman army.
The children from Marlbrook Holiday Club spent hours on top of Dinedor Camp on Dinedor Hill on April 24.
Chris Atkinson, an archaeologist from the Community Heritage and Archaeology Consultancy, dressed up in Roman armour and talked about what life would have been like in the Roman army.
He also helped children search for Roman pottery and look through items that have previously been unearthed at the hill fort.
Christopher Over, the publicity officer for Dinedor Heritage Group, said the children "had a great time".
"The children went to the camp and thought they were going there to have a picnic. But then Chris surprised them and they really enjoyed themselves. It was a good day full of hands-on learning."
The event was arranged by the heritage group with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
