HEREFORDSHIRE'S cider and perry producers knew the recipes for success at a recent international competition.

Organised by the Hereford Cider Museum, 218 entrants fought for a range of different awards, with entries received from 50 cider makers from England, Wales, Ireland, Finland, Australia and the USA.

And Herefordshire's competitors were victorious, taking a clutch of awards away with them for categories including best culinary dry cider, best sweet cider and best sweet perry.

Judges complimented the quality of the ciders entered and successful local producers included Oliver’s Cider and Perry Ltd, Pips Cider, Ross-on-Wye Cider and Perry Co Ltd, Stuart Cooper, Once Upon A Tree Ltd, Bartestree Cider Co, Butford Organics, Newton Court Cider and Westons.

The overall winning cider was the Burrow Hill Cider from Martock in Somerset.
