FIRING up its grill for the first time yesterday, Nando’s has long been one Hereford Old Market’s most-anticipated new arrivals.

The feeling is mutual, apparently, with the much-loved PERi-PERi chicken king looking to set up in Hereford for some time.

And despite PM David Cameron snapping a cringe-worthy selfie in Nando’s’ Bristol location earlier this week, the chain remains one of the most popular among the UKs youngsters.

Nando’s’ Regional Managing Director, Mark Witherspoon, said: “Hereford’s a town that’s been on our radar for a while.

“The demand to open here has been nothing short of incredible.

“We’re all incredibly excited about opening, and can’t wait bring a little extra heat to Hereford this summer.”

It will mean those in the mood for some of the restaurant’s patented flame-grilled chicken will no longer have to make the trip to Worcester – and with the Odeon opening on May 22 the Old Market will be able to offer the two Friday Night favourites within minutes of one another.

Among those chicken-lovers taking to Twitter to express their excitement is James Watters (@Watters20) who tweeted: "Don't think I can resist Nando's any longer! I need chicken #piripiri #nandoshereford".

He was joined by Roz Pringle (@roz_pringle), who tweeted: "Nando's in Hereford is now open. Life Made."

And PoshJack (@Jackhope01) who said: "@NandosUK thanks for my free meal for being first customer in #NandosHereford Been looking forward to it's opening for ages."

The eatery has room for 110 guests, and is located to the East of the new development, alongside the six other restaurants.

Frankie & Benny’s and Miller & Carter have also opened their doors this week, with Chimichanga, Prezzo, Zizzi and Wagamama soon to join them.
