Hereford woman named in Independent on Sunday's Happy List 2014

A HEREFORD woman has been named in the Independent on Sunday's Happy List 2014.

Jan Rosser founded Oapschat - a website dedicated to putting people aged over 55 in touch with eachother - in 2013.

The list names 100 people who, without thought of personal gain, give back and help others.

Jan, who lives in the Hampton Park area of Hereford, said she was "very proud" to be included in the list, which also features Stephen Sutton, the 19-year-old who raised £3.2m for the Teenage Cancer Trust before his death earlier this month.

Jan, who runs the website and Facebook page while caring for her disabled mother, said: "It feels fantastic to have this recognition. I think it shows that although caring for someone is tough and time-consuming, it helps to have another outlet. My website connects people so that they don't have to feel lonely - I've made so many friends through the site over the past year."

Jan, very well done. It is always good to hear of recognition for those who do so much for others. Congratulations - such a good story.
