LEDBURY'S fire station will be throwing open its doors to the public this weekend for the annual open day.

Fire engines and other equipment used by firefighters will be on display, and visitors will have the chance to meet the crew and hear first-hand about the work they do and the risks they face as they respond to emergency calls.

During the open day, there will be a series of demonstrations, including a mock road traffic collision and a breathing apparatus demonstration.

And the fire crew will be handing out a range of safety advice, local Young Firefighters will be there and refreshments will be available.

Peter Hope, community safety advisor with Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, said: “The open day promises to be a fun-filled day with plenty to interest visitors of all ages. Entry is free so please come along with your family and friends.”

The station, in Bye Street, will be open from 11am to 3pm, tomorrow (Saturday, June 7).
