Leominster Hum: People urged to come forward

PEOPLE who are plagued by a nuisance noise known as the "Leominster hum" are being urged to come forward.

A number of residents in the town claim they have been been losing sleep due to a low frequency, humming noise for a number of years.

And although tests have been carried out previously, there has been no resolution to date. Now, campaigners are awaiting the results of more tests carried out by Herefordshire Council's environmental health team.

The results are expected to be presented in a report this month.

Town Councillor Peter Ellis wants to hear from anyone else who has been affected by the noise.

Email pellis@leominster-noise.co.uk or send a letter to Iain Plumtree, Leominster Town Clerk, at the Town Council Offices at 17 West Street-, Leominster, Herefordshire, HR6 8EP with information.

The Leominster hum is interesting as these low frequency noises have been noted in other areas of the world, even well out of towns in rural areas. One such place that springs to mind was near Barmouth in Wales but up in the hills.
It is possible that those who report these hums may have a tinnitus problem of course and can't be ruled out. Some have linked them to other strange paranormal events even UFO's. I am not going that far but think that the end results of checks will be interesting but not necessarily conclusive.
