THERE will be a fresh feel at this year's Bromyard Gala as old meets new.

Gala week starts on Sunday, June 29, when the days of Vera Lynn will be brought back in the town's first 1940s style street fair fills the town centre's streets.

From 10am to 4pm, visitors will see local shops open and locally-produced food and crafts on sale alongside colourful and varied visiting stalls as Broad Street and High Street will be closed to traffic.

The Conquest Youth Theatre will perform on a stage in front of the Hop Pole Hotel, Market Square, and local Guides and Brownies will also perform a specially-produced entertainment.

While the annual gala car boot sale takes place at the gala field on the new site at Munderfield from 7am, followed by a fun dog show from 9am and the Round the Downs Race will see runners toe the line outside the Post Office at 11am.

The Cafe on the Corner in Market Square will feature 1940s recipes, and a local butcher will lay on a hog roast, with a free shuttle bus operating from the free car park at the gala field.

The gala weekend itself falls on Saturday and Sunday, July 5-6.
