POWER cuts knocked out the electricity to around 3,300 houses in Herefordshire on Thursday as temperatures hit 22 degrees celcius.

Engineers from Western Power were able to divert power and reconnect all but 400 homes within half an hour.

Those still without power are largely in the Belmont area, however other parts of the city may experience dips in power at the engineers try to establish the cause of the cut.

Heatwaves have long been linked to power cuts, and Hereford this afternoon ranked in the top-five hottest places in the UK, according to BBC Weather.
