A HOUSING association based in Newent has won a top award for its attention to health and safety.

Two Rivers Housing was named a gold winner in the 2014 Occupational Health and Safety Awards, run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.

Representatives from the not-for-profit housing association attended the award ceremony held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel to be presented with the award.

David Rawlins of RoSPA said: “The RoSPA awards encourage the raising of occupational health and safety standards across the board. Organisations that gain recognition for their health and safety management systems, such as Two Rivers Housing, contribute to a collective raising of the bar for other organisations to aspire to, and we offer them our congratulations.”

Garry King, chief executive at Two Rivers, said: “Winning gold is a fantastic achievement for the organisation and we are very proud to have been given this award. As well as providing good-quality affordable homes, it is also great to know that we have some of the highest standards for health and safety in the area.”
