CHILDREN and young people living on a Hereford estate are one step closer to a new play area after a cash boost of almost £40,000.

The £39,999 from the Veolia Environmental Trust goes to the Moor Farm Community Association to help with the installation of a new play project.

It will feature a range of challenging equipment, mixed with natural play features, in the park on Barricombe Drive.

The equipment will be aimed at junior and teenage children, and an infants’ play area is being created as a separate project.

Michael Francis, secretary of the Moor Farm Community Association, said: “There has never been a play area on the estate, and this grant is a real contribution to us achieving our objectives and encouraging children, young people and families to benefit from exercise, fresh air and social interaction.”
