TWO county gardens will open to the public this weekend – to raise funds for a good cause.

On Saturday (June 28), by permission of David and Jenny Watt, Newport House Gardens in Almeley, will be open for the first time.

From 11am to 5pm visitors will have the opportunity to stroll through 20 acres of gardens set on three terraces while raising money for St Michael's Hospice.

There is also 90 acres of reclaimed woodlands, and an organic walled garden, with tropical glasshouses.

At 4pm there will be a performance of ‘Serendipity’ by aerial dancer Gillian Hipp.

Tickets cost £5 and can be bought on the gate.

To complete the weekend, Penrhos House in Kington will be opening on Sunday (June 29).

Entry to the garden is by ticket only.
