A PARADE featuring hundreds of serving and former military personnel will mark Armed Forces Day in Hereford this Saturday.

The annual event celebrates and honours the armed forces community across the country and the Hereford event is set to reflect the county's long and honoured military traditions.

It takes place around the Shirehall and Cathedral Close with displays, exhibitions, stalls and book signings.

The parade through the city takes place at 2.20pm as part of the Royal British Legion's annual county rally.

It will see hundreds of serving and former military personnel form up in High Town and march along Broad Street to Hereford Cathedral for Evensong.

They will then march back to High Town, via Broad Street.

There will also be entertainment from Hereford College of Arts students, Hereford Police Male Choir and The Regimental Band of the Royal Welsh between 10am and 3pm.

On Monday this week, a special flag-raising ceremony took place at Hereford’s Shirehall.

It was attended by local civic dignitaries, senior figures from all three services and Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for Herefordshire Lady Darnley.
