A LEOMINSTER bakery has been crowned the winner of the town's best dressed shop window.

The competition, organised by Leominster in Bloom, saw 32 shops competing for the top spot.

And the Central Bakery, on West Street, won with the team's colourful take on theme "nature comes to town".

Simon Hill, who was instrumental in creating the winning display, said: "I wanted to bring the theme of nature overtaking the town itself into the display.

"I didn't want to spend any money, I wanted it to be made from whatever could be found and there are a lot of handmade things."

Mr Hill said he was a "bit shocked" to find out his work had resulted in a win, having hoped for a top-three spot.

"When we lost the café part of the bakery we gained a lot of space and I wanted to make it a talking point in the town."

Mike Thornhill, chairman of Leominster in Bloom, said the response to the competition was the best yet.

Second place in the competition was Norton Homes and Interiors on Church Street, while Echo's Clever Betsy shop took third place.
