RESIDENTS in Holmer had their first chance to look at a proposal for 460 new homes in the parish.

A public exhibition was held at Holmer Parish Church last weekend and earlier this week, where Bloor Homes and Hunter Page Planning presented an outline of their plans.

The proposal puts 460 new homes on hillside farmland between Roman Road and the A49 at Holmer.

The Hereford Times has previously reported how Holmer Councillor Sally Robertson had raised concerns that the proposal amounts to a "mini-town".

Chris Shaw, planning manager for Bloor Homes, said: "The exhibition went very well and there was a lot of interest. We had about 150 people come at the two sessions. People generally accept that Hereford needs new housing – certainly affordable housing – but the main concerns raised were in relation to traffic and traffic congestion.

"But people were generally very positive. We will absorb the comments made to us and analyse the written comments."

The scheme will now be amended if necessary in light of comments provided by local people and the developer will look to submit a planning application later this summer.
