A FORMER Mayor of Ledbury, Mary Cooper has accepted the invitation to join the town's Rotary Club, as its latest member.

Miss Cooper said she was delighted to be part of the Rotary movement and looked forward to becoming involved in the future activities.

She has lived in Ledbury for more than 14 years and is well-known as the Civic Society's booking secretary for the Burgage Hall.

She is not only a former mayor, but a former Herefordshire County Councillor for the town.

In more recent times, she has been actively involved with the Ledbury Places scheme, to help find sustainable futures for the town's vintage buildings, including the Market House.

Miss Cooper is no stranger to Rotary as she enlisted the help of Rotarians when she developed the Sensory Garden, which is within the Walled Garden, close to St Michael's and All Saints Church.

This was a project close to her heart, because her own father was blind.

Ledbury Rotary Club President, Mark Waller, said he was delighted that Mary has become a member.

He said: "She has already show a sense of fun, and fellowship along with strong work ethic."
