A CHANCE to join the Les Mis Big Sing is on offer in Herefordshire.

The fun singing day, led by West End performers, comes to Hereford on August 2 and will also be in nearby Malvern on August 16.

Big Sing UK’s musical director Jez Francis, was born in Herefordshire, and started his musical career playing the organ for weddings, funerals and services at Hereford Baptist Church and Whitestone Chapel.

He also became involved with Hereford Amateur Pantomime Society, Youth Theatre, and the then-Amateur Operatic Society (now Hereford Musical Theatre Company).

Leaving the county to study in London, he has subsequently worked throughout the world as fleet musical director for Classic International Cruises and played keyboards in a number of West End shows and worked as vocal coach for the UK tour of Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Jez is delighted to be returning to Herefordshire with the Big Sing UK Tour, which focuses on the iconic Les Miserables.

The day is for everyone, whether an experienced singer or someone who just loves to sing, even if you have no experience at all.

Sessions will run on Saturdays from 12 noon to 6pm for anyone aged 16 and over. There is no need to audition and you do not need to be able to read music as we will teach you all of the music. If you do read music you will enjoy working on an exclusively arranged medley of songs from Les Misérables. Everyone will then perform the medley together at 5.45pm (for free!) to friends and family.

The six hour workshop costs just £25 for adults and £20 for concessions (student, unemployed, disabled, senior citizen), with a 10 per cent discount to Hereford Times readers. Just quote LEA when booking.
