LEDBURY will be served with two fire appliances at least until the end of the summer, despite the threat of cuts which could see the town down to just one appliance.
The news was announced by Cllr Terry Widdows at a town council meeting in the Market House.
Cllr Widdows, who is a county as well as a town councillor said: "There has been a stay of execution on the fire cuts until the autumn, when consulting will resume.
"This is obviously great short term news as it means the current fire coverage will remain in place until then, including Ledbury's second retained pump.
"There are obviously huge concerns over the effects in lives that this could have, as the town council rightly pointed out in its response that was prepared by Cllr Clive Jupp last year."
