RESIDENTS at the Rose Garden Retirement Village in Tupsley have raised the £900 needed to buy a easy-to-use defibrillator.
The potentially life-saving piece of equipment uses recorded commands to help the operator and is almost automatic, said the Rose Garden’s Mel Russell.
It is part of a new generation of defibrillator, with residents of Dorstone also acquiring one for their community last month.
Rose Garden residents – who will receive training for the equipment in September – raised funds by taking part in a sponsored walk at their gym.
They were inspired to buy the kit after one of the residents had collapsed in the village's workshop.
