CROWDS flocked to Homme House last week for the venue's two-day annual British Eventing horse trials.

The event once again attracted a number of top local, national and international riders who competed as part of more than 600 entries.

Among them were Alice Pearson, Louise Harwood, Rosie Thomas and international Team GB rider Harry Mead.

Anne James, one of the event's organisers, said: "It was a super day. It went really well and we have never had so many thank you letters from people which is really lovely.

"We had a good crowd with lots of locals coming in too. Children from Gloucester came to help us out on the day – they hope to build an arena in the city so they had buckets for collections on the day. It involved a lot of people from over quite a large area.

"We had no fallers which is always a highlight. It was just two wonderful days of competition and there was a lovely atmosphere throughout the time.

We had a four-year-old which finished on a score of 11 which is practically unheard of.

"In five short years we have fixed ourselves in the calendar. Homme House is just a lovely setting. We are very lucky to be able to use it. We are very grateful for all our sponsors and helpers."
