A LOCAL teenager, formerly of Dymock but now living in Ledbury, has admitted raping a girl under the age of 13 twice, and of sexually assaulting another girl.

At Gloucester Crown Court on Monday, August 18, Glen Allsopp, aged 18, now living in Albert Road, Ledbury, pleaded guilty to raping the girl twice in Dymock between July 22, 2009 and August 31, 2010 while she was aged eleven and twelve,

Allsopp also admitted sexually assaulting another girl by digital penetration between November 10, 2011 and November 12, 2012.

But he denied a fourth charge of rape against the first girl and this charge is expected to lie on the court file and not be proceeded with.

A basis of pleas that the defendant was reckless as to whether consent was given and was unaware that the rape victim showed distress afterwards was accepted by the Crown.

A further basis of plea that the digital penetration was "minimal" and the defendant stopped as soon as he was aware that the complainant was moving away was also accepted.

Prosecuting barrister Kanaan Siva said: "Nevertheless both complainants were not consenting and their privacy was invaded.

"The remaining count is likely to be allowed to lie on the file."

The judge, Recorder Nicholas Atkinson, said: "These sort of offences invariably attract a custodial sentence but there is a historic element to them and the defendant himself was a young teenager at the time.

"But he must sign the Sex Offenders Register immediately and, before I sentence, him I will need to know a lot more about him."

Probation and psychiatric pre-sentence reports were ordered to be prepared and Allsopp was granted conditional bail until November 7, when he will learn his fate.
