ONE of the performances which will come to The Courtyard as part of its South African celebratory festival, Afrovibes, is called Mamela, and focuses on the stories of young women.

Ahead of the performances of Mamela on October 21 and and Skierlik on October 22, The Courtyard is putting together a pre-show 15-minute performance entitled Women’s Words. This verbatim theatre piece will be constructed from stories, memories and mannerisms shared by local women through a workshop process, and then knitted together to make one holistic performance.

The Courtyard will be holding workshops on Wednesday and Thursday next week, from 4pm to 7pm, at which local Herefordshire women are invited to share their stories, either in small groups, write them down or record them, in a relaxed environment.

The workshops are open to anyone aged 16 or over. If you cannot make the workshop but would like to share something to go towards the performance, leave your memories online at courtyard.org.uk/we-need-your-womens-words
