WORK was underway earlier this week to transform Hereford Cathedral ahead of this week's Festival of Flowers – which kicks off today.
The event, running until Saturday, will see every corner of the iconic Hereford venue filled with colourful floral displays.
It is the first time in seven years that a flower festival has been held in the Cathedral, having been two years in the planning.
There will be approximately 150 displays, created by around 250 people, all with the theme "the world turns...and we turn with it" which is set to commemorate the First World War.
Up to 15,000 visitors are expected to visit the festival which was formally opened last night by renowned historian and gardener Sir Roy Strong.
In addition to the displays there will be a programme of floral art demonstrations, trade stands, garden tours and public catering.
It is open from 9.30am today until 5.30pm on Saturday.
