FUND-RAISERS got a little help from fire fighters for their Ice Bucket Challenge last night at Hay Castle.
An intrepid crowd gathered together against the castle wall while firemen used their hose to provide a good dousing of cold water – all to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Richard Shackelford, regional fundraiser for the MND Association, said: "When income from the Ice Bucket Challenge reached £250,000 at the end of last week we were really pleased.
“But we now estimate that donations should top £7 million!
“This is absolutely incredible and as ever the great British public show their true colours and dig deep in their pockets to help people less fortunate than themselves."
Anyone can donate to the MNDA via their Mobile texting: iced55 (followed by their donation amount) to 70070 or by visiting the MNDA website: www.mndassociation.org .
