HEGGIE’S Butchers of Hereford will add a new charity banger to its menu for British Sausage Week next week.

The ‘Hope Sausage’ was created by young people working with Ross-on-Wye charity Hope Support Services, who help relatives of those suffering from terminal illness.

SammyJay Powell, Hope’s youth development officer, said: “The young people had such a great time testing flavours and now have a real insight into the skills required to thrive in the food industry.”

Heggie’s are the third butchers in the county to develop a charity sizzler, following Cornwalls Family Butchers in Ross-on-Wye and Kington’s Richard Bufton Family Butchers.

The latest version will be on sale at the Yazor Road butchers from next week, with both other butchers set to bring their Hope Sausages back for the Christmas run-in.

“We are delighted to help raise awareness and money for such a valued organisation as Hope,” said Heggie’s owner James Heggie.

“We’re looking forward to developing an ongoing relationship in the future with more exciting ‘flavours to savour’ from our award-winning sausages.”
