THE Red Admiral butterfly is a common visitor to British gardens throughout the summer.
But eagle-eyed Stephen Jones spotted this one sunbathing on an ivy clad wall in his Westhide garden this week - in late November.
Mr Jones said: "I have never seen a butterfly about at this late stage of year in November except for when I have been on holiday in Madeira which is 1,800 miles further south."
According to UK Butterlies, the Red Admiral is primarily a migrant to British shores, with most unable to survive winter especially in the cooler regions of the UK.
Have you spotted any butterflies or photographed any other rare sights this autumn/winter?
