CHRISTMAS is a time of giving, but one Hereford opticians has gone a step further to raise funds for a city primary school.
Specsavers, on Maylord Street, dedicated December to raising money for Blackmarston Primary School, which caters exclusively for children who have special educational needs.
And last week, a group of children from the school took part in a festive carol service in store to help raise funds.
The store's team were also on hand to give out homemade treats to customers in return for donations.
Nialle Smith, store director at Hereford, said: "We’ve been supporting Blackmarston School for some time now, but as a state-funded school, there is always more that can be done to help."
"In addition to the carol service and cake sale, we will be offering specs MOTs (cleaning and repairs) in return for donations throughout December to help raise as much as we can."
