A HEREFORD mum spearheaded a fundraising campaign which raised more than £400 towards a new addition to the city's skatepark.

Louise Hembrow, a manager at Pertemps People Development Group (PPDG, encouraged work colleagues to make a donation from their payroll giving scheme to the park's next project – a viewing area for skaters and parents.

The skatepark, based on Holmer Road, is a community project funded entirely by donations and grants.

Louise Hembrow, a manager at Pertemps People Development Group (PPDG) in St Owen Street, Hereford, said: “My children use it all the time and they love it.

"I have seen the development come on so quickly and I know a lot of people who have contributed to the funding, so it was something at PPDG that we wanted to do being a community project.

"My son is outside all the time – he absolutely loves it. My 15-year-old daughter has started as well."

The project, which will be completed shortly, benefits both skaters and parents at the site.

Volunteer Simon Gorman said: "There are a handful of people that have helped put the skatepark together, helping to run the park and maintain it.

"We organise events for fundraising and it’s a real community project.

"This donation goes toward a parents viewing area we are setting up and we are also getting a tea and coffee machine.

"We couldn’t get the money together and would have had to put our hands in our pockets to do it. The donation from the staff at PPDG was just perfect timing for us.

"Parents and skaters alike who want a warm tea or coffee and an ideal viewpoint will be able to do so soon."
