HEREFORDSHIRE Council has granted planning permission for palisade fencing and gates around a car park at Bradford Building Supplies, on the Hereford Road in Ledbury.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the council's northern area planning sub-committee on Wednesday, February 28.
Ledbury Town Council had recommended refusal because it believed the fencing and gates would be inappropriate for a car park; that valuable car parking spaces would be lost and that the car park would be used for storage.
The car park will be used for storage, and will be surrounded by a 2m high fence. One reason for the fencing is to boost security at the site, following a number of break-ins.
Planning officer Edward Thomas, who recommended approval, said the company had submitted a new parking layout, in advance of the meeting, showing that 17 parking spaces for visitors would be created elsewhere on site.
