Madjid Bougherra is an excellent defender who played a major part in Rangers winning the double last season.
But he antics this season have been out of order, that’s why he should be moved on in January.
He often trots out lines about being totally committed, but his actions don’t back up those statements.
He has now gone AWOL three times. He got a red-card at Motherwell and again missed a crucial game.
That happened in the heat of the moment. But is he now trying to work his ticket?
Rangers need players with total commitment. The fans have seen enough of this behaviour, and unless he gets on with his job, he will soon start to lose the status he had in their eyes.
Punt him for a healthy profit, see if a centre half can be brought in to help Davie Weir and Danny Wilson in the second half of the season.#
DROP HIM
says Alison McConnell
For the third time this season Madjid Bougherra has found it difficult to retrace his steps back to Ibrox after an international trip.
Until now the aberration has been met with a weary kind of acceptance by Rangers. Ironically, as he was set to return for the game against Unirea Urziceni having missed the St Johnstone game but ended up crocked at training.
Had he been fit he would have played against the Romanians. Walter Smith is of the opinion that Rangers are a better side with Bougherra in it.
However, with Danny Wilson impressing, there is another option should Smith want to send out a message to Bougherra.
The Algerian is taking the mickey out of his team-mates and the club by failing to return on time, and losing
his place in the team is a far
more effective sanction than fining him.
