Hu and Bea Jones travelled from their home in England to thank the Strathclyde Police officers who raised more than £1500 for the fund set up in their daughter’s name.
It was the first time they had been back since Slovak Marek Harcar was jailed for at least 25 years for raping and murdering their daughter in Queen’s Park in the city in May last year.
Eleven police officers and one security guard, drawn mostly from the High Court and Glasgow Sheriff Court, cycled from Edinburgh to Glasgow to raise cash for the Moira Fund, which provides respite facilities and bereavement counselling for families who have lost a loved one through violence.
The group organised the event because they were so moved by the Jones family’s dignity during the trial.
