A CARAVAN which a disabled couple had bought with all of their savings has been stolen.

Debby and Anthony Blackwell had bought the touring caravan just four weeks ago and had left it in their drive behind secured gates in Worcester Road, Hanley Castle to go shopping.

But when they returned four hours later at 4.30pm on July 22, thieves had smashed down the gates and taken the caravan.

Anthony Blackwell, 55, who grew up in Hereford and whose dad still lives in St Guthlac Street, has a chronic bone condition and is in a wheelchair.

His wife, Debby, 47, has a degenerative joint disease and sometimes uses a wheelchair.

They had spent £2,000 on making sure the caravan was accessible for both of them.

She said: "We can't explain it. My husband has really taken this badly. We had used the last of our savings and borrowed money from friends.

"There is no way on this earth we will be able to replace this."

When they were driving home the Swift Conqueror 630 Lux after buying it, a pigeon flew into one of the windows and smashed it.

This meant they had not yet bought insurance for the caravan, as they could not afford to get the window fixed straight away.

If you have any details or saw anything regarding the theft call police on 101 and quote incident number 0478S 220715.
