HEREFORDSHIRE will remember those members of the armed forces who have lost their lives in the line of duty- with a range of services and the laying of wreaths planned across the county.

A field of remembrance was opened yesterday in the Lady Arbour at Hereford Cathedral paying tributes to more than 4,000 of the county's soldiers.

Organised by the Herefordshire branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) in conjunction with the cathedral, each poppy planted in the field will carry a personal message to someone who lost their life for the country.

On Remembrance Sunday, November 8, in Hereford a parade will start from the top of St Owens Street before heading to St Peter's Square for a service around the War Memorial starting at 10.58am.

The city will mark Armistice Day on Wednesday, November 11, by observing a two minutes silence at the War Memorial in St Peter’s Square from 10.55am.

The Mayor of Hereford will also be holding a short Act of Remembrance following the silence.

In Ross-on-Wye, on Sunday there will be a Remembrance Service also taking place at St Mary’s Church, from 11am.

Anyone wishing to take part in the parade should assemble at the Police Station, on Old Maids Walk at 10.15am.

On Wednesday a two minutes silence will be held in the Market Place at 11am.

At the All Saints Church in Monkland there will be a Service of Remembrance on Wednesday at 11am. Visitors are asked to be seated by 10.50am.

Remembrance Sunday proceedings will begin at Knighton's Cenotaph from 10.55am, followed by a service at St Edward’s Church.

In Hay-on-Wye the parade on Sunday will start at the town clock from 2.30pm. This will be followed by a church service at 3pm in Saint Mary's Church.

There will be wreath laying at the War Memorial from 4pm.

Kington's Remembrance Sunday parade will march to the War Memorial for 10.30am, which will be followed by a service at the Baptist Church from 11am.

On Saturday, November 7, there is a community family history day for people to research their ancestors who served in WW1.

The parade in Leominster will gather at the top of Broad Street from 10am on Sunday.

Leaving at 10.30am the march will head to the the Priory for a 10.45am service.

At 11.45am the parade will leave the Priory and head to the War Memorial for the laying of wreaths which will take place at noon.

In Bromyard, Sunday's procession will gather at Tenbury Road car park before leaving at 2.45pm to arrive in time for a 3pm church service.
