A TALENTED young cast from Hereford Cathedral School take to the stage next week to perform Fiddler on the Roof, an epic musical extravaganza of love and life centred on Tevye and his wife Golde, (Hope Pugh), who struggle to make sure their five daughters (Rachel Roper, Briony Seden, Emily Prosser, Imogen Miller and Cressida Gethin) make good marriages.

While the matchmaker (Amelia Waller) makes arrangements, the girls have different ideas about love, life and their futures.

The winds of revolution and prejudice are blowing towards Anatevka, and nobody realises exactly what that will means for Tevye, his family and the community as a whole.

Seventeen-year-old Johannes Moore brings a wealth of experience to the lead role of Tevye, the Jewish milkman who strives to make a living and follow tradition.

Former chorister Johannes has sung with many choirs including The Rudolfus Choir, National Youth Choir of Great Britain, BBC Youth Choir, CBSO chorus, Hereford Voluntary Choir and the school’s Chapel and Chamber choirs.

Rachel Roper, who plays Tevye’s oldest daughter, Tzeitel, is well on her way to her chosen career as a professional classical singer.

She has recently appeared on TV singing a solo at the Royal Albert Hall with the internationally acclaimed Cantabile Girls’ Choir, and also sings with the Hereford Choral Society and the Three Choirs chorus.

Hereford Cathedral School’s Director of Music, David Evans said: “We have some incredibly talented musicians and singers involved with this performance.

"I have no doubt that we will see some of them on a professional stage in a few years’ time.”

Hereford Cathedral School present Fiddler on the Roof at The Courtyard from February 9 to 11 at 7.30pm.
