BRISTOL and Cardiff-based printmaker Laura Lillie returns to the Sidney Nolan Trust in March for a photopolymer etching follow-on

course.

The two-day course is principally designed for those who attended Laura's first photopolymer etching course July 2015, but is also open to anyone with some previous experience. Despite its common description as a safer alternative to traditional photo etching, photopolymer (solar plate) etching has the capacity to reach far beyond the potential of exclusively intaglio processes. This workshop will enable you to explore a variety of methods ranging from simple single exposure techniques, direct plate work and drawn transparencies to grained glass positives, double exposure techniques, photographic transparencies and multi-plate intaglio/relief combination.

As part of her research in solarplate etching, Laura has taught masterclasses in Ireland and worked in America with the founder and pioneer of the process, Dan Welden.

The workshop runs on Monday and Tuesday, March 21 and 22, 10am-4pm. Tea and coffee provided; bring a packed lunch. There is an additional charge for plate, materials and paper. Details of what to bring will be sent on confirmation of booking. To book, email info@sidneynolantrust.org
