THE nature and environment of Leominster and its surrounding area are the focus for the town's festival writing competition this year.

Those taking part in Leominster Festival's prose competition can write up to 500 words of fiction or non-fiction, written or printed on just one side of each sheet, preferably double spaced, based on the theme of 'Leominster landscapes'.

The title should be written on every page and pages numbered.

People can also take part in a poetry competition and entries must be a maximum of eight lines and kept to a single page.

Any layout is accepted providing it is legible. Single page only.

A £25 prize is on offer for winning entries with a closing date set for April 24.

An awards ceremony will take place at 6pm on Friday May 27 at Grange Court with author Deborah Moggach the guest of honour.

Full details and entry forms are available from Leominster Tourist Information Centre and Leominster Library.
