THREE young children who have a life-limiting illness were joined by their family as they made treasured memories on the trip of a lifetime.

Twins, Toby and Corey Penn, 12, and their sister, Izzy, 7, were diagnosed with Batten Disease last year.

Their family is creating a ‘memory bank’ for the youngsters – and Hereford Lions Club helped by sending them to Disneyland, Paris.

The children were joined by their parents Jody Penn and Dee Evans, their sister, Amber, and aunt Tina Penn.

Tina said: "We stayed at the Santa Fe hotel and the staff were fantastic with the children, singing and dancing away with them, going out of their way to help with anything we needed.

"I had emailed Disney two weeks before we left and explained about Toby, Corey and Izzy's rare terminal condition and they had a special envelope waiting for us when we arrived - pixie dust.

"The first couple of days were so magical, we ate at the most gorgeous restaurants where lots of Disney characters came to our table and interacted with the children.

"Mickey was especially good guiding the children's hand over his ears and nose so they could feel."

The walking around took its toll on Toby and Corey's legs so their parents made the heartbreaking decision to hire wheelchairs so they could carry on enjoying the trip.

"It really was hard seeing them sat in the chairs but in true trooper style they smiled and got on with it and pretended to be stunt men," Tina said.

"We went to the first treat that was arranged by Disney to a stunt show and it was fantastic. Amber loved it especially and now wants to be a stunt driver."

The family also enjoyed a private meet and greet with Stitch and attended another stunt show before Lightning McQueen, a character from the film Cars, pulled up.

"We were then taken to a private meet and greet with spider-man and again this was amazing interaction for the kids," said Tina.

"There was so many memories made that week that none of us will ever forget and it's all down to the kindness of the Hereford Lions club. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts."
