A PUB could be brought back to life after a developer has put in a revised plan which includes reopening a riverside pub.

It was announced in February that Mark Dew from the Malt Shovel Inn in Ruardean had applied for a change of use to turn The Riverside Inn in Ross-on-Wye into four two-bed dwellings.

But following comments made by the general public, the town council and CAMRA Mr Dew has made a revised application which includes retaining the pub.

He also wants to build one two-bed dwelling and two three-bed dwellings.

Architect Richard Ball said in the planning application to Herefordshire Council: "The property is now un-let and boarded up, my client wishes to obtain planning approval for a variation of the existing use in order to make it a viable proposition."

He added that Mr Dew would like to enhance the area and support the Ross' tourism and he had taken notice of the objections.

Mr Ball added: "We are establishing the Riverside Inn together with a garden to the front and a patio to the rear.

"The front patio will allow clients to enjoy the gardens and bandstand to the front.

"To the rear the patio will allow clients to enjoy the river scene."

Under a separate application Mr Dew is asking for permission for a kiosk to sell soft drinks, coffee and ice creams, which will serve the riverside and bandstand.
