A TEACHER is returning to the classrooms which inspired his own passion for science and learning.

Former pupil of Hereford Cathedral School, Zac Watkins, is returning to take up a teaching post in the school’s biology department.

He will also be teaching psychology, following the introduction of the subject at A Level at HCS.

Dr Watkins said: “It is great to return to the biology department at HCS that inspired my own passion for science and learning, and have the opportunity to work alongside such dynamic colleagues on this exciting introduction of A Level psychology."

Dr Watkins was a pupil at HCS from 1981 to 88, having previously been a pupil at the junior school.

While in the sixth form, he won the coveted Withers Elective Prize in 1988, and had many sporting successes.

After leaving the school, Dr Watkins studied applied biology at The University of Bath for four years, before working in pharmaceutical research with Xenova Limited and GlaxoSmithKline, where he also completed a PhD.

For the last ten years he ran the psychology department at Millfield School in Street, Somerset.
