A 20-YEAR-old has been fined £95 for possessing cannabis after being first caught by police in Hereford's Castle Green.
Charles Beament of Bay Tree House in Shelwick pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis on November 6 last year.
Lesley Ashton, prosecuting at Hereford Magistrates Court, said it was just after 5.30pm when police officers went to Castle Green following a tip-off that people were taking drugs.
Plain-clothed officers approached six males and told them they were police officers, which prompted Beament to run away.
Officers caught him and while he was in police custody they carried out a search at his home address and found cannabis bush in a protein powder tub.
Marilena Divitantonio, defending, said her client had since spent time in custody and there are numerous offences going back to November and December.
But she said Beament is now in a different place and has been supported by the probation service, who say he is doing well.
Magistrates fined him £95 and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £100 and a victim surcharge of £20.
